Preparing for Contact, the book Lyssa Royal and Keith Priest published in Phoenix under a 1993 copyright, and the Protocols of First Contact, the one-page handout Darryl Anka copyrighted in 2016, describe one meeting from opposite sides of a door. Royal's channeled sources say what a person must do before it. Anka's source, Bashar, lists what the visitors do.
The door is in the book, on page 4. A person sits at home. A bright light fills the back yard. A blue light comes through the window. Footsteps cross toward the back door. "Knock, knock." The door swings open on a Pleiadian.
Many readers, the book says, would invite the visitor in. Then it goes below the doorstep. The vibration has to climb fast to meet the other being, and at that speed "the ego becomes frightened and breaks off the contact." The meeting ends in the hallway, on the book's account, before anybody has moved.
On the handout the same moment is line 34 of 43. Three words. "Initiate open contact." A book of 188 pages, a single sheet, twenty-three years apart.
And one voice in both.
The Voice on Page viii
Until 1990 Lyssa Royal worked as a secretary. "In 1984 I began to see a channel named Darryl Anka," she told her Japanese interpreter, Kazumi Hoshina. Then came a dream: an entity touched her chakras and said, "You will be a channel."
She took it straight to Bashar. By her account he recommended a class that was just starting in Los Angeles, with one place left. She entered it in January 1985 with five other students, once a week, four or five hours a session.
Keith Priest came down the same road. His author note in their first book, The Prism of Lyra, says his interest "was triggered in the early 1980s through the channelings of Darryl Anka and Bashar." He had studied piano technology and historical tuning systems at Michigan State. The same note says he had "never even seen a UFO." That book's acknowledgements thank Anka for "the initial inspiration."

So far, a teacher and two students. Then it turns.
On October 27, 1990, in Los Angeles, Royal channeled Bashar herself, with a room asking questions. She has done it, she wrote in 2015, "a handful of times." In 1995 she said the two of them had once channeled "the same information within the span of a couple of days," neither knowing what the other had received. Her claim, and no check of it was found.
Now the book, and here is the strange part. Official X could read only its first six pages and back cover, in a retailer's sample, and word-search the rest. The front matter names three sources: Sasha, Germane and Bashar. "His primary channel is Darryl Anka," it says, and then: "Bashar provided only a portion of one chapter for this book." Page 153 carries the moment, "began to channel Bashar, which was a surprise to us all," and then the name Bashar as speaker.
A portion of one chapter of fourteen. Which means this is not a comparison of two strangers.
Seven Points and a Corn Field
Germane opens the first chapter with a refusal. "There is no magic key. There is no magic pill." "Contact is already going on." It has been going on "since before recorded history."
Germane gives seven points, and they are demands. Acknowledge that contact is inevitable, and not as a hope, because "Hope implies that there is doubt." Throw out every idea that is "poppycock." Embrace all of humanity, down to the fear of it: "we are not asking you to run out and embrace a serial killer." Practice on dolphins, in their terms. Royal's own essay on the seven adds the rest: confront fear, join up the compartments of the mind, reclaim power, a program "for the People by the People." Of SETI and Voyager she asks, "Did those contact programs speak for you?"

Sasha, the book's Pleiadian, supplies the physics. Four brain states, and beings like her cannot reach the waking one. "I cannot land my ship in a corn field, get out and shake your hand and have you remember the experience." Her trouble is not the landing. It is the remembering. An eighth point, given in Tokyo in 1994, is a notebook for the other states. "Instead of trying to seek it, remember it." The contactees of the 1950s told it the other way: George Adamski in the desert, George Van Tassel and his dome.
Forty-Three Lines, One Sheet
The handout runs the other way. It comes from a Sedona session of September 11, 2016, and not one of its 43 lines is addressed to a person. People appear as something to watch: "Observe responses to announcement of timing." Or as equipment: a "connection individual," prepared by synchronicity, then "additional individuals to disseminate information."
Line 4 chooses a life. Line 5: "Design the life to provide necessary elements for future contact."
Line 35 comes after open contact has begun. "Final determination for continuation of open contact." The door, on this list, can close again.
The list asks nothing. The asking is elsewhere: a 2005 session called, like her book, Preparing for Contact 101, with a ship's stations mapped onto a person; a voters' letter in 2012; and from 2024 the Interstellar Alliance Social Experiment. Step 1: "Do not post or read any such theories," and "Many people believing or saying the same thing is not evidence." Step 3: a fixed letter to Congress and the leaders of every country, "every three months." Step 4: an Interstellar Alliance ID card, 3 3/8 inches by 2 1/8, carried "at all times."
Under the differences the two share a skeleton. A hybrid future. Visitors who lost something: emotion, "bred and cloned" out, for the Zeta Reticuli voice of Royal's 1990 session; reproduction, for the Grays in Anka's 2026 telling. Abduction as the repair. That voice told the abducted: "Those of you that have these experiences have agreed to participate." "You are not victims. You never have been." Humans and Zetas, in Bashar's words through Royal, "mirror images of each other." A species still growing up: "aggressive adolescents" in her essay, waiting for "the adults to step in" in his.

If the Door Is Real
Set aside for a moment whether any of it is true. Ask the better question. What kind of neighborhood would we be living in if it is?
If these sources are right, contact was never a ship. It would be an examination, and it would have started before the first line of our history was written. Every light in the sky would be line 6: "Generate sightings & observe reactions and responses." Every terror in every bedroom would be a result, entered somewhere.
Which would mean our history of gods, angels and visitors had a second author, and that we never knew we were being read.
Then it comes inside the body. The book says the ego breaks off the meeting. Anka says the visitors' frequency sits close to spirit, and that the oldest part of the mind answers, "I'm about to die." If so, the thing standing between our species and the largest meeting of its existence would not be a government, or the roughly 500 light-years Anka puts between Earth and Bashar's people. It would be a reflex we share with every animal that ever ran from a shadow.
Then it comes inside a life. Line 5 again. Anka says he remembered an agreement, made before this life, to channel Bashar. Royal had her dream. On that reading a biography could be equipment, a person born and shaped for one conversation not yet held, and the ordinary years part of the design.
And then the frame reverses. Line 39: "Train civilization to discover other civilizations." If the list is real, we would not stay the watched. We would, in time, be the ones at the window, generating lights over some other world, rating its reactions, choosing a life among its people.
Nobody has worked out what would be owed to the person on the far side of that door.
One Room in Los Angeles
The explanation that needs no visitors starts with the room. Royal sat in Anka's sessions before she channeled a word. Priest's interest began there. The Prism of Lyra lists Anka's book in its bibliography. On that reading, two sources that agree are one source and its students. Nobody has published it. The record hands it over by itself.
The scholar Francesco Baroni, writing on Anka alone for the CESNUR conference of 2012, set him among the extraterrestrial channels and pointed to the affinity of his themes with New Age discourse and the Seth books of Jane Roberts. He also noted that the early sessions gave no weight to 2012, and that the year arrived with the vogue for the Maya prediction.
The dates have moved. In 1994 Royal "would not be surprised if we had acknowledgment by the end of the century." The official Bashar catalogue, for a session on the coming year 2020, wrote of a window of contact "that begins in 2025." Its copy for 2023 says "Welcome to 2023, the beginning of the window of open contact."
Inside the UFO world the book met doubt too. MUFON's Arizona newsletter in July 1994 called it "complicated and fuzzy," and worked out that even a generous count of the interested came to "only four percent" of metropolitan Phoenix. Its state director, Ray Maurer, praised the book on the back cover.
And the institutions start elsewhere. In 1960 the Brookings report for NASA named "face-to-face meetings with extraterrestrials" as too far out to be worth proposing research on. The International Academy of Astronautics' principles, updated in June 2026, ask first for confirmation by other facilities, and send no reply before international consultation.
What the Room Does Not Explain
The room accounts for the agreement. It does not account for the split.
On timing the two have gone opposite ways. Royal, in 2003: "I can honestly say that I don't have any idea when it will happen." Anka, in March 2026, asked what follows if contact fails to come: "But it will happen. It's inevitable at this point." Then one number. "2027."
The same man told Rick Archer in 2014 that "a prediction can actually make itself obsolete just by becoming known."
The handout has a place for that. Line 18: "Reassess and disseminate potential timing for open contact." A date that moves is a listed step. Which puts the moved date out of reach of the objection, and puts the list out of reach of any test by date. It cuts both ways.
Then the direction of the work. Royal wrote in 2015 that the belief that the right button can force a meeting is "very far from the truth." Yet the book told people to design a contact program of their own, in a chapter called Designing Contact, and it closes with a note on CE-5, human-initiated contact. Royal coordinated a Phoenix group of Steven Greer's CSETI from January 1994 and went out with colored lights. On August 6, 1998, she stood with about 60 people in the desert outside Laughlin. "I am convinced that something happened this night, but I am not sure what."
The 2016 list gives people no line of their own. By September 2026 Anka's Sedona event carried a CE5 experience on its program. No source opened says who moved toward whom. And Royal says she has not listened regularly to Bashar "in more than 20 years," which, on her account, leaves the later matches unexplained by the room.
And the two channels make the plainest concession themselves. "I can't prove that this is another entity," Anka said in 2026. "It could be another aspect of my own consciousness." Royal: "Since channeling cannot be 'proven' it is ridiculous to try to use it as a method of validation."
The search went looking for a controlled test of either source, and for a scholar who had set the two side by side. It did not find them.
The Knock
The two voices now share a publisher. VOICE, in Japan, has carried Anka since July 1988. In December 2014 it brought out Royal's book under one word, Contact. In September 2026, the month Anka's Open Contact Progress Report ran in Sedona, it listed BASHAR 2050.
The teacher and the student met again on December 12, 2020, in an online VOICE event for about 300 people. She called him "an old friend (and mentor)" and put her questions to Bashar. Afterward she wrote that "Bashar's channeled info often matches mine," and she offers that as two sources agreeing. The room is the other reading. Both fit.
So it narrows to a year. Anka says Bashar now puts it at 2027: probably, "by an official report." A report like that would be the first thing in either body of material that outsiders could check. It would still say nothing about Germane's claim, which needs no ship and no report. If it does not come, line 18 is waiting.
The book's first sentence says humans have viewed contact "as something that happens to us." Everything after it, in both sources, tries to change who the verb belongs to.
Both agree the door has been there all along. One puts a year on it. The other will not. Until then the only witnesses to the knock are the people who say they answered it.
Questions This Leaves You With
Is there anything you actually do with this?
Nothing here has a date you can plan a life around, and anyone selling a date is selling something. You can read a list of seven points as a way of looking at your own fear whether or not a ship exists, and that part is yours alone. The larger question is not personal. If a species ever does face this, who would speak for it? Royal's sources say the people. The academy's principles say international consultation. Nobody has settled that, and you do not have to.
Does this sit against what your faith teaches?
It can read either way. You may find a teaching about unseen beings and designed lives close to what you already hold about angels and purpose. You may find a source that calls itself an extraterrestrial and speaks for the universe sitting on ground your tradition reserves for something else. People have argued both. Official X will not tell you which way it falls, and neither source can settle it for you. The question worth keeping is what you would need from a voice before you called it more than a voice.
Would it change what your own life is?
Think of line 5 for a moment, the life designed for a purpose. Perhaps that makes you smaller, one instrument in somebody else's program, your choices already in the plan. Perhaps it makes you larger, a person who was wanted for something before you arrived. You probably felt one of those before you finished the sentence. Notice which. Neither of them needs the list to be true, and nothing here asks you to do anything about it.
What would change your mind, in either direction?
Name it now, while nothing rides on it. Toward the claim: an official report of the kind Anka describes; a channeled detail, recorded and dated in advance, that no one could have known and that outside checkers confirm. Away from it: Royal's channeling and Anka's set apart under controlled conditions and shown to share nothing beyond what the two have read and heard from each other; 2027 passing, and the date moving again. Then ask what you would do with line 18, which allows for that.
If two channels agree, what does the agreement count for?
This one is open, and it reaches past these two. When two voices say the same thing and one taught the other, the agreement may carry no weight at all. Or a shared source could be exactly what real contact looks like from the inside. Nobody has a method that separates those cases. The study that would try has not been found, and no one has written down what it would measure. A comparison of dozens of channels who never met might be a start, if anyone could show they never met. It is an empty space, and it is still empty.
