Radium water
In the 1920s radium was sold to drink: bottled as Radithor, or made at home in crocks lined with ore. A 1926 book promised youth from it. The record shows what it did to the men who drank the most.

Radithor and Modern Rejuvenation Methods, the 1926 Book That Sold Radium Water
Modern Rejuvenation Methods is a 1926 book by Charles Evans Morris, M.D., promising that Radithor, a bottled radium water sold by William J. A. Bailey, could make the old young and harm nobody. Eben Byers drank it for nearly three years and died of radium poisoning in 1932. This investigation reads the book and the federal order against its seller, and asks who wrote it.
